City Gallery Cool, the map that sees Rotterdam as an open air museum and exhibits a new way to experience this museum, was part of the exhibition: ‘De Aankoop’.

WORM, the Institute for Avant-garde Recreation Rotterdam and Soundpiece asked the sound artists Rutger Zuydervelt (MachineFabriek), Pierre Bastien and Dyane Donck (Daisy Bell) to produce a 15-minute track to be played at Soundpiece.
 

RAvB: Microclimates_for regional diversity

The question: How can something as small as a MICROclimate have an influence on a REGIONAL scale? was the starting point for the Summerschool 2o12 of the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design on ‘microclimates_for regional diversity’.

Vacant Rotterdam

A vibrant city has an appealing street scene. Rotterdamse Nieuwe therefore collaborates with Tussentijd Rotterdam to lower shops vacancy. Young entrepreneurs are given the possibility to come with their plans and concepts. Out of this the owner of the vacant shop space selects a winner, who can start up his or her business at a lowered rent.

Poetry meets Pop

For annual Poetry International Festival Rotterdam, students of the Rotterdam Pop academy made a soundscape for Soundpiece. The students started from poems of Sirgurbjörg Tharstardóttir, Andrea Gibellini, J.A. Deelder, Oscar Pastior and Herman de Coninck.
